Alex Warren's absolutely beautiful song ORDINARY is destined to be the wedding song of the year! Over the past couple of days I have observed some pretty heated debates in the comments about how to use it as a wedding entrance. Most brides-to-be are concerned that their bridesmaids would have to set off at break-neck speed ... and right at each other's feet in order to ensure that the bride can have the magnificent rapture of the song's chorus all for herself :-)
I have been playing for weddings since I was 8 years old... the part of Berlin I live in is even called.... Wedding (pronounced Vedding) ... so I have taken it upon myself to try and ease everyone's concerns by coming up with an arrangement which means ... no-one has to run!
Firstly, I have slowed the song down to around 75% ... it still flows... but feels unhurried.
Secondly I decided to delay the climactic melody moment of that first chorus (the one all the Brides want for themselves) ... now when that moment comes the first time... there is no melody... just the beautiful harmonies... and the harp motif ...
Thirdly I added the melody from Pachelbel's Canon in D just before the entrance of the Bride ... to make the song feel new when it returns... and also to create anticipation
Finally... during the Bridal entrance ... that big chorus moment comes back... this time WITH the melody... so she gets to enjoy that Rapturous moment all for herself!
