Benedictus, by Karl Jenkins - A meditation for peace and an open heart
The sublime music of Karl Jenkins' Benedictus is a gorgeous call to peace and an open heart... “Benedictus” is the 12th movement of his much larger work titled "The Armed Man;" subtitled "A Mass for Peace." Video by Jonathan Van Valin at https://www.AssistTheSpirit.com. "The Armed Man" is essentially an anti-war piece written by the Welsh composer in 1999, and originally dedicated to victims of the Kosovo crisis. It combines texts from the Ordinary of the Mass, with other religious and historical sources, including the Islamic call to prayer, the Bible (e.g., the Psalms and Revelation) and the Mahabharata. Writers whose words appear in the work include Rudyard Kipling, Alfred Lord Tennyson and Sankichi Toge, who survived the Hiroshima bombing but died later of leukemia. “Benedictus” is the Latin word for “blessing.”
