Hello there, we're The Get Right Band from Asheville, North Carolina. We play psychedelic indie rock music, with a lot of other genres and flavors and influences sprinkled in. We spend a lot of time on the road touring and we've come to depend on white noise... sometimes you're trying to meditate and relax before the show and you need to drown out the sound of the hip hop bluegrass band playing before you, or your bandmate is catching up with an old friend for several hours while you're trying to sleep, or you're crashing at a friend's house and their dog is barking all night long. The list goes on and on. So we made some white noise videos that we thought would be perfect for drowning out noise, sleeping, relaxing, whatever. This one is the soothing sound of rain... who doesn't love that?
We've been asked a good bit if we actually recorded this, and indeed we did. We literally just stuck our favorite mic (Shure SM7B) up to the window of our home studio during a beautiful rain and recorded for about an hour. We brought the recording into Logic and picked out the best parts of the rain, editing around sections with any other loud noises like an airplane passing by or sirens, and then we looped the rain sound for 10 hours (using some crossfades to make the looping completely unnoticeable). At first we put the audio with a looped video of rain, but we figured people would mostly be using this in the background just for the audio, so we paired it with a black screen so there wouldn't be anything bright or distracting for people trying to sleep.
