La scelta di far suonare le note di questa canzone sulle immagini del film 300 nasce dall'idea che la potenza evocativa delle immagini del film si fondesse perfettamente con l'incedere inesorabile della musica, permettendo ai Metallica di narrare le avventure della più epica delle battaglie, quella delle Termopili, ove un piccolo drappello di soldati Spartani ben addestrati, comandati da Re Leonida, riuscì a tenere testa alla feroce moltitudine dell'esercito persiano di Serse. Questo epico scontro passò alla storia come un immortale esempio di eroismo.
