It's been over a year since my last Minecraft music update. This collection really boosted my views and helped me gain quite a few followers(sadly not on youtube lol). I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who enjoys MC music and has subscribed to me. I'm truly sorry for the long pause in updating the MC collection.
The main reason I stopped was that the pieces in the collection were mostly simple cover performances – my own transcriptions were minimal. I've always felt that most current piano arrangements of the MC soundtrack are stuck at an elementary level. They're great for beginners, but don't offer much for those looking to advance their technique. Compared to C418's own ingenious compositions, these arrangements feel a bit simplistic. The MC soundtrack deserves better piano versions – ones that can truly reproduce the nuances in the music for players with the technical skill.
*That's* the work I want to do.
So, after covering five pieces, I decisively stopped updating the collection and started focusing on deeper work. A specific catalyst brought me back: the Distant Horizons mod. This time, my return to MC was on a mission. I played, transcribed, and practiced simultaneously, completing quite a few pieces.
"Mice on Venus" is my favorite and the transcription I'm most satisfied with to date. This piece is incredibly rich musically. It starts with the classic, subtle MC piano vibe. As the cadenza enters, it transforms from calm to increasingly lively, eventually leading into the trippy-sounding Section B. I call it "trippy" mainly because C418 used a sharp, lead synth that sounds like squeaking mice – "squeak squeak squeak"! To translate this to piano, I used tremolo (rapid repetition of a single note) to mimic that sound. While this significantly increases the difficulty, it sounds fantastic. I also wrote an ossia (alternative) version that doesn't require tremolo, for those whose technique isn't there yet or whose piano action is slower.
To stop people constantly accusing me of being AI, I specifically placed a gold mine block next to me and made a point to touch it a couple of times. Surely AI can't do *that*? . The background footage is captured in-game by me, using the Complementary Reimagined shaders.
