🌿 Mantra (Transliteration):
Om pūrṇamadaḥ pūrṇamidaṁ
pūrṇāt pūrṇamudacyate
pūrṇasya pūrṇamādāya
pūrṇam evāvaśiṣyate
Om śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ ॥
📖 Meaning:
Om.
That is whole. This is whole.
From the Whole, the Whole emerges.
Even when the Whole is taken from the Whole,
The Whole still remains.
Om. Peace. Peace. Peace.
🕉️ Refined Interpretative Translation:
Om.
That (the outer world) is Purna — full, complete with Divine Consciousness.
This (the inner world) is also Purna — equally full with Divine Consciousness.
From Purna arises Purna — from the infinite fullness, the manifest world emerges.
Even when Purna is taken from Purna, Purna alone remains —
for Divine Consciousness is infinite, indivisible, and ever whole.
Om. Peace, Peace, Peace.
This mantra comes from the Isha Upanishad, one of the oldest and most profound spiritual texts of ancient India. It expresses the non-dual truth that all of existence arises from an infinite source (Brahman), and yet that source remains ever undivided and complete.
🧘🏽♀️ Why Chant the Purnam Mantra?
To connect with the sense of inner completeness
To invoke peace in the heart, relationships, and the universe
To calm the mind before meditation or yoga practice
To attune to the non-dual teachings of the Upanishads
To honour the ancient Vedic tradition of sacred sound (Nada Yoga)
🎵 About this Version:
This rendition is accompanied by a minimal, sepia-toned visual of a female monk seated in stillness — symbolizing the presence of the Sacred Feminine and the eternal quiet of the Self. It is ideal for meditation, introspection, or peaceful background chanting.
