One of the most powerful and effective reading strategies is sight word recognition. Sight word recognition is recognizing by sight the words that appear with high frequency in books and texts .
Sight words are also called high frequency words. These are words that are encouraged to learn as a whole, by sight so students automatically recognize these sight words without the need to decode or sound them out.
The first time we spell and say the word together, the second time we spell the color and flash the word for students to say on their own, the third time we flash the letters and word for students to say on their own and then repeat the color word three times together.
