In this short video, I want to explain why you may feel sleepy after eating. Feeling sleepy after a meal usually occurs because of one of two reasons.
Two main reasons you may feel tired after eating:
1. When you eat, you trigger insulin, which means your blood sugars are going to rise. If you’re consuming carbs and sugar, you’re going to get tired because of the blood sugar effect. It may be best to change your diet. Cut out the carbs and sugar and try the healthy keto diet (lots of veggies, moderate protein, and fat).
2. You may have trouble digesting your food. The food may just sit there, making you feel bloated. In this case, it may be beneficial to acidify the stomach. Drinking apple cider vinegar mixed in water, or taking apple cider vinegar pills (apple cider vinegar plus) can both be great ways to help acidify the stomach. If you cut out the sugar and are eating healthy, but you still feel sleepy after eating, you may need to support your digestion.
