The Tinnitus Zinger Masker at 15kHz is the highest frequency noise on the Noise Ambient channel. This frequency is approaching the listening ability of some people, so drop a comment if you can or cannot hear it. 13kHz Zapper is slightly lower, but with it's popularity, a higher noise seemed in order.
What is Noise Masking?
The concept is based on disrupting ringing in one's head by introducing a new sound, noise in this case, to distract the mind away from the ringing. Some contemporary research on "T" suggests the mind is auto completing the ringing well after the damage has occurred. There are custom sounds created for individuals by audio therapists for this purpose.
Some listeners have commented their ringing is in this ultra high range and this sound is an attempt to offer relief to those people.
There is no cure for tinnitus and other listening afflictions at this time. There are some techniques for reducing it such as masking, lowering stress and anxiety and other factors. This could offer a little relief, perhaps minimizing ringing by one third.
Listening at low volume is best and headphones are not necessary. While some listeners listen overnight while sleeping, others listen for 20-60 minutes in the daytime as they feel the need.
Tinnitus research is ongoing on and perhaps a breakthrough is on the not-so-distant horizon. Your comments about personal experience, struggle and discovery on the subject are invited to further the dialogue. I hope to read respond to as many comments as possible.
Seeking out an audiologist for tinnitus is a good idea.
