Hey, check out our amazing collection of great shows.
Coral reefs are the most bio-diverse areas of the Pacific ecosystems. More than a quarter of the world’s marine species live on reefs, even though they make up less than two percent of the surface area. There are many types of reef systems. The most commonly known are barrier reefs that run parallel to coastline, separated by lagoons. The largest barrier reef on Earth is so big it can be seen from space. It runs parallel to the coastline of northeastern Australia, a chain of 3,000 individual reefs, and some 900 islands, this system is greater in size than the United Kingdom, Holland and Switzerland combined. This living superstructure is so significant to the world, it’s deemed one of its seven natural wonders.
