Your Throat Is Holding Trauma. Here's How to Release It (5-Min Routine)
Quick safety note: When massaging the SCM muscle, use gentle pressure and lift the muscle rather than pressing deeply into the neck. The carotid artery runs in this area. Skip this technique if you have cardiovascular issues, low blood pressure, or feel dizzy. As always, listen to your body. π

Your throat is holding decades of unspoken words, swallowed emotions, and suppressed truth. This 5-minute throat massage routine will help you release the tension and trauma stored in your neck, jaw, and throat area.
This massage routine addresses:
β Tight throat from swallowing your words
β Jaw clenching from staying silent
β Neck tension from carrying emotional weight
β Constricted voice from childhood trauma
β Difficulty speaking up or expressing yourself
If you have a high ACE score (Adverse Childhood Experiences), this routine is especially important for you. Childhood trauma lives in the body, and the throat is one of the primary places it gets stuck.
DO THIS ROUTINE:
β Daily for chronic tension
β Before speaking engagements or important conversations
β Whenever you feel your voice constricting
β As part of your trauma healing practice
This is trauma-informed bodywork that you can do yourself, at home, in under 5 minutes.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Use gentle to moderate pressure (not hard/painful)
- Breathe deeply throughout the routine
- This may bring up emotions - that's normal and healthy
- If you feel dizzy or uncomfortable, stop and rest
- Drink water after to help release toxins
