Cockatiel Sounds - Lutino and Pearl From Nono
UPDATE JANUARY 2024, The Pearl Cockatiel is a Female!!!
UPDATE OCTOBER 2024, We Are Not Sure If This Cockatiel Male or Female
These two young cockatiels are the children of cockatiel Nono and his female. Nono is a white-faced cockatiel who has been with us since early 2022, we initially brought in Nono when he was around 2 or 3 months old hoping to provide a mating partner to one of our two male cockatiels. But then as Nono got older it turned out that he was showing signs that he is a male cockatiel. Luckily at that time Nono liked one of our female cockatiels, it is a female cockatiel from Tono. Until then, the male cockatiel Nono and female Lutino had laid eggs several times and hatched cute chicks. And these two cockatiels are the first generation of them.
Nono is a white-faced cockatiel from a pair of white-face pied and white-face pearl, when he is around 3 or 4 months old, the feathers on his back show a prominent pearl pattern. But as he grows older, Nono now looks more like a pied on his back.

Nono and his female partner, Lutino, have spawned cockatiel chicks several times, so that when this video was made, there may have been around 4 generations of Nono. But it's quite unfortunate that Nono and his female cockatiels are not good at caring for their chicks. On average they have started to leave their chicks when it was 20 after hatching. And also their chicks are not fed enough even though we have provided the best foods for Nono and the female so that they can feed their chicks optimally. This is very different to Tono and the female, who are both very good at caring for their chicks. They always feed their chicks to the brim, we feel happy when we see their chicks are always full and noisy when fed. Even though it makes us have to be diligent in changing the bedding in the nest box, because it gets dirty quickly with the droppings of these chicks.

These two cockatiels are very active and not tame, although they are quite interested in us, they can follow our whistles, and they are always noisy and active when people are chatting nearby. The two cockatiels weren't that big, compared to Tono's chicks at the same age. We suspect whether this is because when they were small they were not fed enough by their parents, or indeed this is a genetic factor, we also don't know for sure.
At first we thought the two cockatiels were male and female, but when this video was made, we were able to observe directly that these two cockatiels could sing, which is a strong sign for a male cockatiel. Although it is clear that the more dominant one is cockatiel Lutino.

The science of sound therapy draws from multiple disciplines: psychology, neuroscience, and acoustic ecology. Research consistently shows that ambient sounds can modulate autonomic nervous system activity, shifting the body from stress response (sympathetic activation) toward relaxation response (parasympathetic activation). This occurs through multiple pathways: masking of disruptive environmental sounds, providing gentle cognitive engagement that prevents anxious rumination, and creating predictable soundscapes that signal safety to primitive brain regions. Regular exposure to relaxing audio can help establish positive feedback loops where the brain learns to associate certain sounds with calm states.
