coulou's cafe trumpet meditations (no. 51)
filming this meditation was truly a heavenly experience, Maine is such a magical place and every time i have the privilege of visiting, i leave with a hope to return as soon as possible. firsttt i want to say i am so excited for the July 8th show, i am going to try and get as many people off the waitlist as possible butttt if you aren't able to make it i do have another show in Brooklyn on August 2nd that i will be announcing this week! so keep your eyes out for that, i am excited to be performing more and to have the opportunity to meet some of you!
each week when i post a meditation, i am very aware of the energy i am giving off in the descriptions. some weeks im struggling a lot, other weeks i am incredible joyful. throughout those ups and downs i try to hold onto a level of self awareness that it is impossible for all of us to be emotionally in sync and
every week when i check in with myself and all of you on this platform, i feel very aware of the energy i am giving off in the descriptions. with the state of the world, i find myself trying to walk a fine line of expressing my feelings in a given moment. even though i often see joy as act of defiance towards the forces that work against humanity, it can feel detached on a given day seeing what other people might be experiencing. at the same time, when i am feeling really down i try a little harder to voice the silver linings or paths of hope, because i still want my voice to be one that helps. all this is to say, even though i don't know most of you, i do truly feel a sense of care towards this community and all of your well beings. i say this now because as a new yorker, the race for the democratic mayoral candidate is on and at a time when so much hurt in the world can make us all feel hopeless, there is someone running that i truly believe in. to me, politics is inseparable from family, friends, art, nature, health and all other corners of life. that's because politics is the structure of everything we experience in our day to day. we live in a time where the richest people in our country profit off of the rest of us fighting with and hating each other. i so deeply hope that in my lifetime i will see a world at peace, a world where people care for the wellbeing of others, a world that see's how we all benefit when we are good to this planet and the people that inhabit it. so many politicians lead us to believe these are corny hopes and dreams and that's just not how the world works. they don't want you to realize that the reasons the world is the way it does now is because the people with that destructive mindset are the ones in power. the candidate Zohran Mamdani has an inspiring campaign that is truly funded by the people of New York, and if you are an eligible voter in the city all i ask is that you spend some time looking into the message and goals in his campaign. he's a compassionate and intelligent individual who doesn't take any money from private interest groups. his campaign focuses on affordable housing, free child care, affordable transportation, affordable groceries, and protecting our most vulnerable communities. all paid simply by having the richest individuals in this city pay their fair share of taxes. for me, him winning this election would feel like a first step in seeing our country begin to sew the seeds of a nation united. i say this not to alienate anyone, but out of love and hope for us all. wishing everyone a peaceful start to their week, sending lots and lots of love,
