Stunning Indoor Micro Landscape with Flowing Stream
I used a shallow tank for this build. It measures 360 x 240 x 100mm
I made the shallow tank using cut glass panels which was joined together using clear Silicone sealant. The cut glass panel measurements are as follows:
Front and back (2 pcs) - 360 x 100mm
Sides (2 pcs) - 228 x 100mm
Bottom (1 pc) - 348 x 228mm
The edges of the cut glass were sanded by hand as I did not have access to a glass grinding machine. The edge finish is not smooth but the sanding is good enough to prevent injuries.
An EVA sheet was cut out and placed under the tank as a protective mat.
I created a housing for the submersible pump using filter foam sheet. A water table was created using lava rocks. Filter floss and geo-textile was placed as a substrate barrier. Frodo stones were used for hardscape and the stream bed was constructed using a mix of aqua gravel and silicone.
I created a substrate using coco peat, sphagnum moss and aquasoil and proceeded with planting the moss and a solitary Alternanthera Calico Bush.
DOOA Terratape was used over the substrate and stones for more effective moisture wicking.
The pump area was covered with floss and geo-textile barrier covered by substrate and moss. In the event of any pump failure or service this section can be dismantled easily without disturbing the rest of the scape.
Pilea Depressa cuttings were randomly planted and some driftwood pieces and aquatic moss were added for a bit more detailing.
