Guys and St Thomas's ECMO Retrieval Team, seen at 0:00, transport the ECMO machine to patients in the field. ECMO stands for 'Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation'. ECMO is the process of providing heart and breathing support outside of the body, through use of an artificial lung with the support of a heart-lung machine, when someone's heart and lungs are unable to correctly exchange gas efficient enough to sustain life.

The Specialist Retrieval and Intensive Care Team (SPRINT) seen at 1:08 is a mix of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses, airway trained registrars, and ambulance crews from British Emergency Ambulance Response Service (BEARS) that specialise in transferring intensive care patients; particularly to Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospitals.
