Head and Neck Lymphatic Drainage Sequence
Head and Neck Lymphedema is a side effect after radiation and/or surgery. Compression can be a bit more challenging to use for the head and neck, but Lymphatic Drainage is a fantastic option for lymphedema and swelling in this area.
When lymph nodes are removed during surgery, damaged through radiation therapy, or genetically someone has a dysfunction of the lymphatic system, then the body may have a hard time draining lymph fluid, which can result in lymphedema.
Here is a sequence we follow for manual lymphatic drainage for head and neck lymphedema.
